Responsibilities

• Create and modify electrical schematics and electrical drawings using AutoCAD 2D.
• Develop accurate electrical documentation for custom-engineered equipment.
• Assist with electrical system design from concept through production.
• Create and maintain electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and related engineering documentation.
• Support the selection and specification of electrical components (motors, breakers, relays, VFDs, sensors, etc.).
• Assist with BOMs and engineering documentation used by purchasing and manufacturing.
• Work with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and service teams to resolve issues.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability; ensure standards compliance.
• Support continuous improvement of drawings, documentation, and processes.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and engineering support as needed.

Job description

Our client, an established and growing equipment manufacturer in Newton County, Georgia, is seeking a Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join its engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career Electrical Engineer or Electrical Designer with professional experience creating electrical schematics and drawings using AutoCAD 2D.

The primary focus of this position is electrical schematic design. Previous PLC programming, controls, or industrial automation experience is not required, although exposure to these areas would be a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and modify electrical schematics and electrical drawings using AutoCAD 2D.
• Develop accurate electrical documentation for custom-engineered equipment.
• Assist with electrical system design from concept through production.
• Create and maintain electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and related engineering documentation.
• Support the selection and specification of electrical components, including motors, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, VFDs, controllers, sensors, and related components.
• Assist with Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation used by purchasing and manufacturing.
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and service teams to resolve electrical design and production issues.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Support continuous improvement of electrical drawings, documentation, and engineering processes.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and engineering support as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 1–3 years of electrical design/drafting experience preferred; candidates with additional relevant experience will also be considered.
• Professional experience creating electrical schematics using AutoCAD 2D.
• Ability to read, understand, create, and modify electrical drawings and schematics.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and electrical components.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate engineering drawings.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), or a related discipline.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.
• Experience with EPLAN or similar electrical CAD software.
• Exposure to industrial equipment, manufacturing, or machine design.
• Familiarity with NEC and/or UL requirements.
• Experience selecting electrical components.
• Familiarity with control panels and industrial electrical systems.
• PLC, controls, or industrial automation experience is a plus, but not required.
