Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Design Engineer at the junior level to support infrastructure and utility projects. You will create and review designs, develop technical drawings in AutoCAD, and perform field assessments while coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver on schedule.

Hybrid work in Downers Grove, IL with local travel. Internship or up to 2 years of engineering experience preferred; EIT is a plus. Competitive hourly pay and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
• Internship experience or up to 2 years of engineering experience preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; GIS experience is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, and communication skills.
• EIT certification is a plus.
• Ability to travel locally for occasional site visits.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain engineering designs, layouts, and technical drawings.
• Utilize AutoCAD, and other design tools to support project execution.
• Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
• Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Support field activities including site visits, measurements, inspections, and project documentation.
• Manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and project objectives.
