Job summary

InSite Engineering is seeking a Junior Design Engineer in Wall Township, NJ to support land development projects under supervision.

You will work with licensed engineers, prepare plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, and assist with permit applications and site investigations. This entry-level position offers mentorship and hands-on project experience in a collaborative setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience (internships/co-ops encouraged).
• EIT certification preferred but not required.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn and collaborate.
• Self-motivation with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and design of land development projects.
• Prepare engineering plans, grading plans, utility layouts, stormwater designs, and construction details under licensed engineers.
• Develop drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Research ordinances, zoning regulations, and design standards.
• Compile project data and site information for planning and design.
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, and meetings.
• Assist with permits, technical reports, calculations, and documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to meet deadlines.
• Support site plan and subdivision applications.

As a Junior Design Engineer, you'll work alongside experienced engineers and project managers on a variety of land development projects. What You'll Do

• Assist with the planning and design of residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed‑use land development projects.
• Prepare engineering plans, grading plans, utility layouts, stormwater management designs, and construction details under the guidance of licensed Professional Engineers.
• Develop and modify engineering drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Research municipal ordinances, zoning regulations, and applicable local and state design standards.
• Compile project data, mapping, and site information to support project planning and design.
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, and project meetings.
• Assist with permit applications, technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary design teams to help deliver high‑quality projects on schedule.
• Support the preparation and review of site plan and subdivision applications.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
• 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience (internships and co‑op experience are encouraged).
• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification is preferred but not required.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
