Job summary

SteerBridge is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to support the Modern Disability Claims program. This entry-level role offers hands-on learning of claims data systems, pipeline development under supervision, and opportunities to build technical depth for a mission-critical VA program.

You will contribute to data preparation, ETL/ELT concepts, and collaborate with senior engineers while gaining exposure to cloud-based data platforms and healthcare data pipelines.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Public Trust clearance (or ability to obtain)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Data Science, or related field
• 0-3 years of data engineering or related experience
• Familiarity with Python and SQL
• Willingness to learn ETL/ELT concepts and cloud-based data platforms
• Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn
• Ability to work collaboratively and receive mentorship from senior team members

Responsibilities

• Write clean, well-documented code to support data pipeline development and maintenance
• Assist with exploratory data preparation and cleansing of claims and healthcare data sources
• Support senior engineers in identifying and fixing bugs in ETL/ELT pipelines
• Learn and apply standard debugging and troubleshooting processes for data pipelines
• Perform basic data quality checks under guidance from senior team members
• Document data workflows and processes as directed
• Participate in code reviews to build familiarity with team standards and practices
• Learn the team's domain, codebase, schemas, and MDC data systems
