Job summary

Legis1 is seeking a Junior Data Analyst to support our legislative intelligence platform. You will work with SQL and AI-assisted tools to generate insights for stakeholders across product, data, sales, and marketing.

This role favors candidates with a political background and hands-on exposure to political data, offering opportunities to build data ingestion pipelines, QA, and reporting in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of U.S. politics and how Congress operates.
• Hands-on experience with political data through coursework, internships, campaigns or prior work.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and ability to write and troubleshoot queries.
• Exposure to or interest in using LLM tools to assist with data analysis and reporting.
• Strong attention to detail and a quality-first mindset for data accuracy.
• Curiosity and initiative to research and evaluate new data sources independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collect, maintain, and monitor Legis1 data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Use SQL and AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude Code) to query databases and generate reports for internal stakeholders.
• Research new data sources and understand underlying legislative/political subject matter.
• Build data ingestion pipelines and scrapers.
• Own day-to-day quality control of the data on Legis1.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve data quality-related bugs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to translate data findings into actionable insights.
