Job summary

Beiersdorf North America is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to support local and global teams in marketing, IP, and regulatory compliance. The role involves drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on complex commercial topics, and coordinating with global legal colleagues.

The ideal candidate has a J.D., 1–3 years in a multinational setting, and strong knowledge of marketing law, advertising rules, and IP. Stamford, CT-based with occasional travel (<25%).

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in a U.S. state with eligibility for the Connecticut In-House Counsel Bar.
• 1–3 years of experience as Legal Counsel or in a similar position in a multinational corporation.
• Specialized knowledge of marketing law and business law.
• Experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts.
• Advertising laws, regulations and intellectual property knowledge.
• Familiarity with North American legal system and regulations.
• Excellent English communication, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Support local and global commercial functions including marketing teams.
• Review marketing materials and claims for regulatory compliance (FTC/FDA/NAD/Cosmetic MOCRA).
• Liaise on IP, websites, domains, and content clearance in the U.S.
• Collaborate with global legal teams for claims support and brand protection.
• Provide legal advice to commercial teams and escalate issues when needed.
• Draft and negotiate a high volume of commercial contracts.
• Draft templates and ensure adherence to global standards and agreements.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and relevant legal developments.
• Assist with audits, risk management, litigation support as needed.
• Support M&A and post-merger integration on contracts and data transfers.
• Manage the contract library and contract databases; handle document uploads.
• Administer contract lifecycle management and routing.
• Assist with corporate housekeeping and policy training.
• Track legal costs and process invoices; maintain department budgets.
• Support externships and internships as needed.
