Job summary

Republic Masonry & Fencing (A Division of the Millis Family of Companies) in Houston, TX is seeking a Junior Estimator to join our Missouri City, TX office. This role supports the Senior Estimator and the Estimating Department by preparing bids, cost estimates, and takeoffs for commercial projects.

The position requires at least 6 months of estimating experience in commercial construction, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in Excel and estimating software.

Qualifications

• 6 months or more of estimating experience in commercial construction.
• Experience in project management or other construction roles is helpful but not required.
• Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and terminology.
• Familiarity with hardscape and concrete is very helpful.
• Strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is needed.
• Exposure to estimating software and digital takeoff tools.
• Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and have strong attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills along with organizational skills are needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyze blueprints, specifications, and bid documents to understand project scope and requirements.
• Perform manual and digital take-offs for assigned trades using estimating software (Procore, Bluebeam, and Excel).
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes; level and compare bids for scope coverage and accuracy.
• Help prepare bid packages, proposals, and cost reports.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope reviews; coordinate with project management during takeoff.
