Job Description

What You’ll Get to Do:

• Determine and perform appropriate setup of CNC vertical machining centers for programs provided by CAM programmers.
• Design and build fixtures (preferred).
• Knowledge of G and M codes with the ability to program at the control to build fixtures and edit CAM generated programs.
• Select appropriate cutters and tool holders.
• Set up and operate the full range of machine tools found in a well-equipped prototype development shop.
• Maintain dimensional accuracy to specified tolerances, using measuring instruments.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of Mil-Spec and GD&T specifications.
• Work from verbal instructions and sketches.
• Perform machine shop math and trigonometry.
• CAM and Solid modeling CAD experience is a plus.
• Lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
• Adhere to safety protocols.
• Operate a forklift (a plus).

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

• Successful completion of machinist apprenticeship.
• Journeyman CNC Machinist qualification.
• Trade School certificate.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• DoD Secret Clearance or capability to obtain one.
• Knowledge of Shop, Facility and Division Safety Policies and requirements.

Working Conditions

• Work inside and outside, in cold weather, hot sun, and environments requiring ventilation or respirators.
• Physical: Lift up to 80 lbs, work in industrial environments.
• Hazardous Duty: Work in settings with potential hazards; use of PPE and engineering controls reduces risks.
