Manual / CNC Machinist

Responsibilities:
- Perform basic setups and operations to produce parts from engineering prints or sketches, working from raw stock with minimal assistance and maintaining ± .002 tolerances. Operate equipment listed and other shop tools to ensure quality. Setup, run, and program NC equipment using macro programming.
- Make simple ultrasonic horn details.
- Read and interpret blueprints thoroughly.
- Perform layout work.
- Apply basic math skills, including converting fractions to decimals and basic trigonometry.
- Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, depth micrometers, Vernier calipers, and others as needed.
- Setup, run, and optimize NC/CNC machines for efficiency.
- Clean and deburr parts to prepare for finishing.
- Sharpen cutting tools like drills, facing, turning, and fly cutting tools.
- Perform basic maintenance, including minor repairs, adjustments, and maintaining oils and coolant levels with correct concentrations.
- Check and clean filters or coolant tanks as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace by cleaning machines and surrounding areas.
- Separate chips for recycling according to material types.
- Communicate job status and details to the next shift or leave detailed notes if absent.
- Accurately complete daily time and job cards.
- Transport materials within the shop as needed.
- Consult with the department manager before making procedural changes.
- Perform other job classifications as needed.
- Assist in training personnel on equipment operation when required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years in a machine shop environment, focusing on setup and operation of mills, lathes, saws, and drill presses, with experience in blueprint reading, math, and measurement tools, maintaining ± .005 tolerances.
- At least 4-5 years of experience with CNC Vertical Mills.
- Proficiency in G&M programming and Fanuc controls.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Experience with setup, operation, and macro programming at the control (offline programming not required).
- Experience operating two CNC Vertical Machines: Haas and Tree.
