Job summary

APWA Inland Empire Branch is seeking an entry-level Assistant Engineer to support municipal civil engineering tasks in water, sewer, and street projects. You will review plans, maps, and specifications for accuracy and compliance, assist with cost estimates, and coordinate with agencies on regulatory reporting.

The role involves field surveys and CAD drafting, with growth toward licensure as an Engineer-in-Training and advancement to higher levels as experience is gained.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• One year of engineering experience.
• Valid Class C California driver's license and Engineer-in-Training certificate.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform professional engineering work for water, sewer, street, and public works projects.
• Review plans, parcel maps, specs for accuracy and compliance.
• Perform plan checks for maps, encroachment permits, and prepare cost estimates and agreements.
• Coordinate with departments and agencies on reporting requirements and compliance, including NPDES.
• Assist with field surveys, CAD drafting, and project coordination.
