Job summary

Baird, Hampton & Brown, Inc. is seeking a full-time, exempt Graduate Civil Engineer to learn and work on civil projects for municipal governments and private developments.

You will collaborate with professionals to develop civil drawings under a Project Manager and gain exposure to client dealings and project management. The role emphasizes learning the business side of civil engineering, developing technical processes, and progressing toward full project management responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• Engineer in Training certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, and other data to plan projects.
• Plan and design transportation or hydraulic systems and structures, following standards using design software.
• Analyze and produce designs for stormwater, sewer, pipeline, parking, sidewalks, and roadways using design software.
• Prepare site grading and utility plans, coordinating with municipal parties; perform hydraulic calculations and prepare construction documents for permitting.
• Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specs.
• Communicate project status with the Project Manager, client, and other relevant parties, including reports and data.
