Job summary

Baird, Hampton & Brown, Inc. (BHB) is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to learn and contribute to municipal and private civil projects under supervision. You will work with engineers, designers and managers to develop civil drawings and professional skills while gaining client-side insights.

The role emphasizes design, analysis, and documentation across stormwater, roadways, utilities, and site grading. A strong communication ability is essential for coordinating with teams and clients.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree required.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
• Plan and design transportation or hydraulic systems and structures, following construction and government standards using design software.
• Analyze and produce designs for stormwater, sewer, pipeline, parking, sidewalks, roadway, etc. using design software.
• Prepare site grading and utility plans, coordinating with municipal parties. Perform hydraulic calculations and prepare construction documents for permitting.
• Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications.
• Communicate project status with the Project Manager, client, and other relevant parties, including preparing reports, data, and project activities.
