Job summary

Genesee County is seeking an entry-level to mid-level civil/environmental engineer to support street, sewer, and water projects. The role involves applying physics, math, and engineering principles to practical problems in the field and office, with supervision limited to more complex tasks as experience grows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in civil or environmental engineering, or civil/engineering technology, or closely related field.
• Associate's Degree in civil engineering technology, environmental technology, construction technology, or closely related field with 2 years of related experience, or equivalent.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training as defined by (1) and (2).

Responsibilities

• Uses instruments to gather and record engineering data in office and field.
• Assists studies to determine future needs for street, sewer and/or water distribution systems.
• Assists in preparing plans, specifications and designs for proposed projects.
• Uses computer software to create and maintain drawings, plans and documents.
• Oversees construction work when advanced knowledge is needed.
• Keeps records of work and changes in plans and specifications.
