Job summary

InSite Engineering is actively seeking a Junior Design Engineer to join our civil engineering team in New Jersey. The role is entry-level and focused on learning through mentorship on residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use land development projects.

You will assist with planning, design, and documentation, developing drawings in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and ensuring compliance with local standards. Ideal for recent graduates with 0–2 years of experience and EIT considered for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• 0-2 years of engineering experience; internships and co-ops encouraged.
• EIT certification is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and design of land development projects.
• Prepare engineering plans, grading plans, utility layouts, stormwater designs, and construction details.
• Develop and modify drawings using Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Research municipal ordinances, zoning regulations, and local design standards.
• Compile project data, mapping, and site information to support planning and design.
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, and project meetings.
• Assist with permit applications, technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on schedule.
• Support preparation and review of site plans and subdivision applications.
