Job summary

InSite Engineering is seeking a Junior Design Engineer to join our land development team in the Northeast. You will work with experienced engineers on a range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects, gaining hands-on experience in design and permitting.

The successful candidate will have a Civil Engineering degree, 0–2 years of experience, and a willingness to learn. AutoCAD and Civil 3D familiarity, plus strong communication and organizational skills, are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited college/university.
• 0–2 years of engineering experience; internships/co‑op welcome.
• EIT certification preferred but not required.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and design of residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use land development projects.
• Prepare engineering plans, grading plans, utility layouts, stormwater designs, and construction details under licensed P.E. guidance.
• Develop and modify drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Research municipal ordinances, zoning regulations, and local/state design standards.
• Compile project data, mapping, and site information for planning and design.
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, and project meetings.
• Assist with permit applications, technical reports, calculations, and documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects on schedule.
• Support preparation and review of site plans and subdivision applications.
