Extremity-Care is seeking a Junior Buyer to support the Procurement team in San Antonio, TX. The role focuses on processing POs, maintaining vendor records, and coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and accurate documentation.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year in purchasing or supply chain, and a basic understanding of regulatory requirements in the tissue/medical device industry. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • 1 year+ purchasing/supply chain experience; startup exposure preferred.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license; favorable background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Process purchase orders (POs) accurately and efficiently with approvals per policy.
  • Maintain and update vendor records, pricing agreements, and contracts.
  • Communicate with vendors to confirm orders, schedules, and discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure stock availability.
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies and track deliveries.
  • Coordinate with warehouse for receipt and storage of goods.
  • Organize purchasing files, records, and reports.
  • Support data entry and document prep for Purchasing & Supply Chain.
  • Prepare procurement reports including spend analysis and vendor performance.
  • Act as a point of contact for supplier inquiries.
  • Follow up on delayed shipments and backorders to minimize disruptions.
  • Assist in evaluating vendor performance and improvements.
  • Use ERP to track POs, inventory, and vendor information.
  • Maintain knowledge of FDA CFRs, AATB standards, and SOPs.

Job description

Purpose

The Junior Buyer supports the Procurement team by managing administrative tasks related to procurement processes, vendor coordination, and inventory management. This role ensures smooth day-to-day operations, accurate documentation, and timely communication with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

Responsibilities
  • Process purchase orders (POs) accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely approvals and compliance with company policies
  • Maintain and update vendor records, pricing agreements, and contracts
  • Communicate with vendors to confirm orders, delivery schedules, and resolve discrepancies
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability
  • Assist in reconciling inventory discrepancies and tracking incoming deliveries
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure smooth receipt and storage of goods
  • Organize and maintain purchasing files, records, and reports
  • Support the Purchasing & Supply Chain team with data entry and document preparation
  • Prepare reports on procurement activities, including spend analysis and vendor performance
  • Act as a point of contact for supplier inquiries
  • Follow up on delayed shipments and backorders, escalating issues when necessary to minimize operational disruptions
  • Assist in evaluating vendor performance and recommending improvements
  • Utilize the ERP system to track and manage purchase orders, inventory, and vendor information
  • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant FDA CFRs, AATB standards, internal policies and standard operating procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Strong supplier communication and relationship-building skills
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable to the tissue, biologics and/or medical device industry (e.g., FDA, AATB, ISO)
  • Experience with implementing and optimizing supply chain management software and tools
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in business administration or supply chain management from an accredited college or university preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience in purchasing and/or supply chain management, with a track record in a startup or high-growth environment preferred
  • Valid Class “C” driver’s license required
  • Clearance of favorable background investigation required
