Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Blockchain Developer for an entry-level role in Paarl, Western Cape. You will assist in designing and implementing blockchain solutions, assist with smart contracts, and learn under senior developers in a fast-paced crypto environment.

Ideal candidates have a CS/Eng degree, basic programming, and strong curiosity about distributed ledger tech. You will gain hands-on experience writing secure code, testing, and collaborating with the team on innovative projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Basic understanding of programming concepts and data structures.
• A demonstrated interest and foundational knowledge in blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java).
• Eagerness to learn and develop skills in smart contract languages like Solidity.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Self‑motivated and proactive in learning new technologies.
• Prior internship or project experience in software development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of smart contracts using Solidity or similar languages.
• Support the design and development of backend services for blockchain applications.
• Write clean, testable, and documented code under the supervision of senior developers.
• Participate in code reviews and learn from constructive feedback.
• Help with the testing and debugging of blockchain applications and smart contracts.
• Research and learn about new blockchain technologies, protocols, and tools.
• Collaborate with team members on assigned tasks and project deliverables.
• Contribute to the documentation of code and system architecture.
• Assist in deploying and managing blockchain nodes or related infrastructure.
• Engage in team meetings and contribute ideas for project improvement.
