Job summary

WestStar in El Paso, TX is seeking an Accounting Associate I to support the Bank, its holding company, subsidiaries and divisions. You will apply GAAP and regulatory principles, prepare financial statements, perform monthly reporting, and handle general ledger entries and reconciliations.

The role also assists with accounts payable, budgeting schedules, and regulatory reporting such as FR Y-9SP and Call Report.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Minimum of 2 years of related accounting experience.
• Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks with deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work long hours during peak times.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Applies GAAP and regulatory accounting principles to prepare and analyze financial reports.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for management and the Board.
• Support daily and monthly close processes, including general ledger entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare revenue-related journal entries for subsidiaries.
• Prepare related reconciliations for subsidiaries.
• Review vendor payments and assist with 1099 reporting.
• Support accounts payable function as needed.
• Perform daily reconciliations for bank accounts.
• Assist in preparing audited financial statements and regulatory reports.
