Overview
Our client is seeking a passionate and driven Junior AV Support Technician to join their Corporate Engineering and IT team. This contract role is ideal for a motivated professional with 2 to 4 years of experience who is eager to build a long-term AV career in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
Our teams rely seamlessly on the Google Workspace ecosystem to stay connected. You will serve as the primary on-site AV resource for our San Francisco office, ensuring our conference rooms and event spaces run flawlessly. Responsibilities
- Proactive System Maintenance: Conduct daily health checks and preventative maintenance across SF conference rooms. Ensure all Google Meet hardware, displays, and integrated audio systems are fully functional and ready for the day.
- First-Line Troubleshooting: Act as the first responder for user-facing AV issues. Provide empathetic, rapid-response support for team members and guests, ensuring minimal disruption to their meetings.
- Event & Production Support: Assist with cross-functional AV needs, including room setups, equipment staging, and live event operation for all-hands meetings and special events. You will have the opportunity to shadow senior staff and learn the ropes of live audio mixing and video switching.
- Hardware & Inventory Management: Maintain impeccable cable management and equipment staging in meeting spaces. Track spare parts, manage RMAs, and help maintain an organized, up-to-date hardware inventory.
- Ticketing & Documentation: Manage support requests through our internal ticketing system. Log issues accurately, track them to resolution, and contribute to internal knowledge bases by drafting room setup notes, signal flow diagrams, and basic troubleshooting guides.
- Continuous Growth & Escalation: Actively participate in cross-training and take ownership of small-scale AV projects. Follow established troubleshooting workflows and expertly document symptoms when escalating complex issues to senior AV engineers.
Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in AV support, IT helpdesk, live event production, or a related technical support role.
- The "Google House" Ecosystem: Familiarity with Google Workspace, Google Meet hardware, and ChromeOS devices. You should be comfortable supporting cloud-based collaboration platforms.
- Technical Foundations: A solid, basic understanding of AV signal flow (audio, video, and control), EDID, common cable standards (HDMI, USB-C, CAT6), and basic networking principles as they relate to AV.
- Customer-First Attitude: Highly collaborative with strong verbal and written communication skills. You can explain technical concepts to non-technical users with patience and empathy.
- Adaptability & Problem-Solving: The ability to remain calm under pressure during high-stakes meetings, take direction well, follow established processes, and ask excellent questions.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Industry certifications (such as AVIXA CTS, Dante Certification, or ITIL) or relevant technical coursework are a massive plus and show your dedication to the craft
Compensation: $30 - $40 per hour
