Job summary

Hoffman & Hoffman, Inc. is seeking an Associate Automation Engineer to support the development, design and implementation of industrial control systems for building automation projects.

This role blends control system design, HMI/SCADA, PLC/DDC programming, and field commissioning under guidance of senior engineers. Candidates typically hold a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a technical field and have up to 3 years of automation experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Trade school certificates or equivalent technical training with relevant experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Control System Design: support selection of automation components and generate accurate drawings.
• HMI/SCADA: configure graphics and screens following company standards.
• PLC/DDC: assist with basic programming tasks and tag configuration using standard templates.
• Testing & Commissioning: support bench testing, FAT, and site startup activities; travel may be required (up to 30%).
• Documentation: maintain IO lists, sequences of operations, and test protocols.
• Safety & Compliance: follow safety procedures and participate in training.
• Quality: ensure documents and code meet right-first-time standards.
