Our client, an Architectural Firm in NYC, is seeking a Junior Architectural Designer to support architectural projects from initial site documentation through design development and construction. This position will work closely with architects, clients, engineers, interior designers, building management, and other project stakeholders to develop accurate drawings, coordinate building systems, and assist with projects throughout various stages of design and construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site surveys of existing buildings and spaces, including taking detailed measurements and documenting existing conditions.
- Translate field measurements and site information into accurate architectural drawings and existing-condition plans.
- Prepare architectural drawing sets including demolition plans, construction plans, floor plans, elevations, and related project documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of zoning studies and documentation to evaluate project requirements and compliance.
- Develop and coordinate electrical and plumbing diagrams as part of architectural drawing packages.
- Participate in site visits throughout construction to review project progress and observe whether work is being completed in accordance with the design intent.
- Document field conditions, construction progress, and issues requiring coordination or follow-up.
- Participate in client meetings to help establish project scope, understand design requirements, and provide project progress updates.
- Collaborate with architects and interior designers during schematic design and design development.
- Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other engineering consultants as required.
- Communicate with building managers and other project stakeholders regarding building requirements, regulations, existing systems, and construction coordination.
- Assist with resolving design and coordination issues that arise during project development and construction.
- Maintain accurate and organized project drawings and documentation.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting project schedules and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Design, or a related field, or currently completing an accredited architecture program.
- Previous architectural internship, junior designer, or related professional experience preferred.
- Experience conducting field surveys and documenting existing building conditions.
- Understanding of architectural plans, elevations, demolition drawings, and construction documents.
- Familiarity with zoning and building-code-related research and documentation.Ability to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and building representatives.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a project team.

The compensation for this position ranges from $65,000.00 - $80,000.00. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.
