Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Unix/Linux System Administrator to support the ongoing operations and maintenance of the County's UNIX systems. This role involves managing critical infrastructure, ensuring system stability, and providing technical expertise for a wide range of system administration tasks.

Responsibilities:
Perform system maintenance on Unix/Linux servers to ensure high availability and reliability
Analyze system performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain optimal operations
Resolve technical problems related to operating systems and supporting software
Write and maintain shell scripts to automate routine system administration tasks
Install, configure, and upgrade software and operating system components as required
Monitor system activities and perform system tuning and performance monitoring
Apply security patches and system updates in line with compliance requirements
Document all procedures, configurations, and changes made to the system environment
Requirements & Qualifications:
Proven experience in Unix/Linux system administration (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, AIX, or Solaris)
Strong proficiency in shell scripting (e.g., Bash, Korn, or C shell)
Experience with system monitoring tools and troubleshooting utilities
Hands-on experience with software installation, upgrades, and patch management
Solid understanding of system security practices and user access controls
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a government or public-sector IT environment
Familiarity with ITIL practices or service management tools
Experience with virtualization technologies and backup solutions
