Job summary

CLT Recruiters in New York, NY seeks an accounting clerk for a family-owned high-end construction firm in Manhattan. The position is in the Finance and Accounting department, handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and project cost reconciliations.

It is a non-exempt, hourly role with overtime eligibility and in-office five days. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, an associate degree, and strong Excel skills with a willingness to learn QuickBooks

Qualifications

• One to three years of bookkeeping, accounting, or accounts payable/receivable experience.
• Associate degree in accounting, finance or business administration preferred.
• Construction or project-based industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor and subcontractor invoices, coding to projects, cost codes and GL accounts.
• Review invoices for documentation and approvals before payment; maintain AP records.
• Assist with weekly vendor and subcontractor payment runs.
• Assist with AR, including preparing and distributing customer invoices.
• Support project billing, including progress billings and change orders.
• Maintain job cost records and help reconcile project costs.
• Reconcile vendor statements, bank and credit card accounts; research discrepancies.
• Review weekly timesheets; maintain vendor/subcontractor files (W-9s, insurance certificates, lien waivers).
• Support month-end procedures, including reconciliations and schedules.

High-end residential construction - New York, NY. Full-time, in office five days.

Our client is an established high-end residential construction firm in Manhattan, family-owned and building in the city's premier residential buildings for close to forty years. The identity of our client will be shared with qualified candidates at the appropriate stage of the search.

The Role

This is an accounting clerk position inside the Finance and Accounting department, reporting to the Accounting & Finance Manager. The work is accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations, and it suits someone early in an accounting career who wants broader exposure to a project-based business. It is a non-exempt, hourly position and is overtime eligible.

Responsibilities

• Review invoices for documentation and approvals before payment, and maintain accounts payable records.
• Assist with weekly vendor and subcontractor payment runs.

What We Are Looking For

• Strong Excel, and a willingness to learn QuickBooks Desktop.

Compensation
