Job summary

The Junior Accountant III at Homelessness Prevention is based in Washington, DC and reports to Accounting Manager. You will review subcontractor invoices, enter data, and manage accounts payable for multiple DHS-funded projects.

Key responsibilities include verifying invoices, maintaining vendor records, reconciling bank statements, tracking spending by location, and supporting grant reconciliations to ensure timely payments and accurate financial reporting for District-funded programs.

Qualifications

• Review subcontractor invoices and verify payments for multiple projects.
• Enter invoices into accounting software and maintain payment records.
• Perform accounts payable tasks and reconcile vendor statements.
• Track and report on DHS-funded spending by location.
• Assist with grant reconciliations and spending updates.
• Maintain accounting department files and correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Verify monthly program invoices from DHS subcontractors and ensure accuracy.
• Process invoices in accounting system and ensure timely payments.
• Reconcile bank statements and maintain vendor records.
• Prepare weekly/monthly spending reports for DHS-funded projects.
• Support grant reconciliations and respond to inquiries from Finance team.
