Job summary

The Cyperus Group is seeking a junior accountant with nonprofit experience in New York. The role supports grant-funded activities, handles AR, reconciliations, invoicing and journal entries, and works across departments. Direct hire or temp-to-perm arrangements are possible.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years nonprofit accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with nonprofit software like Financial Edge or Raiser's Edge. Effective communication and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of nonprofit bookkeeping, accounting, or finance experience.
• Hands-on experience with accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, invoicing, and journal entries.
• Experience working in a grant-funded or fund-accounting environment.
• Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, sorting, filtering, reconciliation worksheets).
• Proficiency with nonprofit accounting software i.e. Financial Edge, Raiser's Edge, Sage, MIP, Blackbaud.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet recurring deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, follow through on responsibilities, and raise questions proactively.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

70K-80K or 30.00-35.00 Per Hour
