The individual will work closely with Finance Operations, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Claims, and other business areas and will also support general ledger accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting for smaller operating entities and assigned accounts.

Accounts Payable, Expenses & Disbursements

  • Process vendor invoices and employee or business expenses in the accounts payable platform, including coding, supporting documentation, approval routing, and follow-up on incomplete or exception items.
  • Prepare approved disbursements, including vendor payments, claim and loss adjustment expense payments, policyholder or customer refunds, and other Finance related checks or electronic payments in accordance with established authorization and control requirements.
  • Maintain accurate payment support and transaction records and coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve payment exceptions, returned items, voids, stop payments, or other disbursement-related issues.
  • Assist with accounts payable aging, outstanding payment items, vendor inquiries, and recurring expense reporting to support timely resolution and accurate financial records.

Accounts Receivable, Receipts & Accounting Support

  • Support accounts receivable activities through invoice preparation and distribution, external (customer) and (internal) underwriting correspondence, payment tracking, aging follow-up, and collection/write-off reporting.
  • Record and reconcile cash receipts, deposits, refunds, and other transaction activity to source systems, bank activity, supporting schedules, and the general ledger; investigate and raise discrepancies for timely resolution.
  • Prepare journal entry support and account reconciliations for assigned operational accounts, including cash, receivables, payables, expenses, disbursements, and other balance sheet or income statement accounts as assigned.
  • Partner with Sr. Premium Accountant to ensure cash receipts, A/R, billed and unbilled balance sheet accounts all reconcile to revenue and premium entries.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities by preparing schedules, recording routine transactions, researching reconciling items, and ensuring assigned activity is complete and supported.
  • Provide accounting and financial reporting support for smaller operating entities, including transaction recording, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, expense and revenue activity, intercompany activity, and preparation of recurring financial schedules.
  • Apply generally accepted accounting principles and, where applicable, insurance accounting concepts to assigned activities while partnering with Financial Reporting on unusual or judgmental items.

Operational Reporting, Controls & Process Improvement

  • Prepare and maintain recurring Finance Operations reporting, including paid loss and disbursement reporting, accounts receivable collection and aging reports, transaction reconciliations, and other management workpapers.
  • Validate reports and workpapers to source data and financial records, research unexpected differences, and maintain organized support that provides a clear audit trail.
  • Identify opportunities to improve transaction workflows, reconciliations, reporting, documentation, and use of Finance systems; support testing and process changes as the Finance organization continues to automate and modernize its operations.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • One to three years of relevant experience in accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, finance operations, or a related financial role; strong internship experience will be considered.
