David S. Brown Enterprises, LTD is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our Accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with 1–2 years of experience who is looking to continue developing their skills within the real estate and property management industry.
The Junior Accountant will assist with creating, analyzing, and adjusting financial statements for a multi-facility real estate company while supporting the accounting functions of various operating entities. This position will work with bank reconciliations, general ledger accounts, cash reporting, taxes, accounts receivable/payable, and other financial activities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Reconcile bank accounts and multiple general ledger accounts
Prepare daily cash reports and cash balance worksheets
Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements
Prepare annual reports and personal property tax returns
Assist with real estate and personal property tax processing
Prepare annual Quick Tests for real estate tax appeals
Assist with year-end workpapers
Reconcile Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), security deposits, and management fees monthly
Reconcile loans, distributions, and advances for assigned properties
Calculate management fees and interest accruals
Perform monthly true-ups of security deposit accounts
Support additional accounting projects and responsibilities as assigned
1–2 years of accounting experience required
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Experience with accounting software; knowledge of Yardi and Sage Fixed Assets is a plus
Understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating with the Accounting team
Real estate or property management accounting experience is a plus
