Job summary

The Segal Company (Eastern States), Inc. is seeking a Junior Accountant (Finance) in New York.

You will support day-to-day accounting operations, including reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly close, with exposure to budgeting and internal controls in a collaborative environment. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in accounting or related field and 1+ years of experience; familiarity with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Power BI is preferred.

The Opportunity

As a Junior Accountant at Segal, you'll support the day-to-day financial operations that keep our business moving, including reconciliations, journal entries, close activities, reporting, budgeting support, and compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Junior Accountant include, but may not be limited to:

• Support monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, daily cash sheet preparation, and bank and cashbook reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze balance sheet and expense account reconciliations, including general ledger, bank statement, and daily cash sheet activity.
• Create monthly internal Profit and Loss statements for distribution to reporting groups and provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting for leaders, including Directors and the CFO.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or other quantitative and analytical related academic discipline.
• 1+ years of relevant accounting and/or financial administration experience, with familiarity with basic accounting principles and the ability to research, analyze, and summarize financial information.
• Experience and/or familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Power BI is preferred.
• Demonstrated initiative, strong time management and organizational skills, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal, client service, and verbal/written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and in teams, interact professionally with others, and communicate clearly by phone and in writing.

The current salary range for this position is $60,000.00 to $75,000.00, plus opportunity for a discretionary performance bonus based on company profitability and employee performance.
