Job summary

ASSA ABLOY is seeking a Junior Accountant for our Service Centers team at the Milan, Tennessee facility. This role supports the accounting and financial reporting process, executes journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis under the Controller’s guidance.

You will help maintain accurate records, assist with month-end close, audits, and internal controls while growing accounting experience in a collaborative finance environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Up to 3 years of accounting or related experience; internship considered.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with JD Edwards, Power BI, or Business Objects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Complete balance sheet, bank, intercompany, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues.
• Support month-end close and quarterly and annual closing activities.
• Review account activity, trends, and variances; escalate unusual items.
• Prepare analyses and schedules for financial and management reporting.
• Assist with financial statements and audits; maintain audit-ready records.

You will support accounting and financial reporting activities by preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, analyzing variances, and assisting with month-end close. Working under the direction of the Controller, you will help maintain accurate financial records while following GAAP, company policies, and internal controls

You would also:

• Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
• Complete balance sheet, bank, intercompany, and general ledger reconciliations
• Investigate discrepancies and help resolve accounting issues
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities within established deadlines
• Review account activity, trends, and variances, escalating unusual or significant items
• Prepare account analyses and supporting schedules for financial and management reporting
• Assist with financial statements and internal and external audits
• Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready financial records
• Prepare Internal Control System statements and related reconciliations
• Prepare the monthly RNV report and partner with Procurement to investigate discrepancies
• Follow GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal controls
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and data quality
• Build effective working relationships across departments
• Other projects and assignments, as needed

The Skills and Experience you need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Up to 3 years of accounting or related experience; relevant internship experience will be considered
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with JD Edwards, Power BI, or Business Objects is a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to recognize and investigate discrepancies
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across functions
• Sound judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality
