UNKNOWN in Pennsylvania offers a law clerkship with a sitting judge of the Court of Common Pleas. You will immerse yourself in civil and criminal matters, conduct deep legal research, draft opinions and orders, and assist with motions, pleadings, and voir dire observations, all while learning court operations.

From day one, you will work closely with court staff, attorneys, and the public, maintaining calendars and deadlines, and gaining mentorship and professional growth toward a PA Bar career.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree required.
• Admission or active pursuit of admission to the Pennsylvania Bar.

Responsibilities

• Assist Judge with complex legal issues before, during and after proceedings.
• Draft opinions, orders, and memoranda in a clear, Judge-appropriate style.
• Conduct legal research using online platforms and reference materials.
• Maintain organized court calendars and track case status and deadlines.
• Communicate with attorneys, litigants, court personnel, and the public regarding docket matters.
• Clerkship exposes you to civil, criminal, family, and appellate matters.
