Job summary

Denver County Court is seeking a Judicial Assistant II for the Criminal and General Sessions Division. The role is in-person at the Lindsey Flanigan Courthouse, 520 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204, Monday–Friday 7:30 AM–4:00 PM with a flex schedule after 6 months subject to supervisor approval.

The ideal candidate demonstrates integrity, public service commitment, strong organization, and excellent communication, with potential Spanish language bonus.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or GED/HiSET/TASC is required.
  • 3 years of clerical experience and 1 year in court, law enforcement or a legal setting.
  • Combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent and impartial customer service to all who access the court via telephone, in person, and in writing.
  • Create and maintain an accurate court record.
  • Explain complex legal processes clearly to customers with varying needs.
  • Perform clerical tasks including cashiering, fulfilling record requests, filing motions, delivering mail, and processing applications for community service and payment plans.
  • Provide input on process improvements to coworkers and leadership.

Location & Schedule

The office hours for this position are Monday through Friday 7:30AM - 4:00PM. This position is in-person and will report to the Lindsey Flanigan Courthouse located at, 520 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204. Flex schedule available after 6-month probation period and approval by supervisor dependent on office need and availability.

The mission of Denver County Court is to administer justice fairly, efficiently and effectively; provide excellent customer service, and foster a positive environment where employees enjoy their work. The City and County of Denver's third branch of government is comprised of 19 judges, 4 full-time magistrates, and 300 staff members. Case types include state, civil, small claims, traffic, criminal, and other general sessions cases within the City and County of Denver. The Division

The Criminal Division is a fast-paced environment that focuses on providing exceptional customer service to citizens with complex legal matters. There are 14 courtrooms in the division, hearing cases that include charges ranging from low level municipal code violations to high level felonies. Additionally, the division has two specialty courts: Wellness Court and Sobriety Court, and Outreach Court which alternates between the Denver Public Library - Central Branch and Denver Human Services. We are committed to helping people, creating and maintaining an accurate court record, and providing support services to the Judicial Officers. What You'll Do

The Denver County Court (DCC) is seeking a Judicial Assistant II to join the Criminal and General Sessions Division.

  • Provide excellent and impartial customer service to all who access the court- via telephone, in person, and in writing
  • Create and maintain an accurate court record
  • Clearly and effectively explain complex legal processes to customers with various needs
  • Perform a variety of clerical functions, including: cashiering, fulfilling record requests, filing motions, delivering mail, and processing applications for community service and payment plans
  • Provide input on process improvement to coworkers and the leadership team

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of clerical experience and one (1) year of experience must have been in court, law enforcement or legal setting
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements with the exception of the one year of experience in court, law enforcement or legal setting
  • License/Certifications: None
