Job summary

Quality Consulting Group, LLC is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety professional to lead and support EH&S programs in a world-class manufacturing environment in Puerto Rico and the USA.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in EH&S, 2+ years of related experience, and strong knowledge of regulations, risk management, and capital-project support. Collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Quality is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related technical field
• 2+ years of directly related experience
• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, construction, engineering, or another regulated industrial environment
• Knowledge of EH&S regulations, industry standards, and risk management principles
• Experience supporting capital projects and equipment installations
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and technical specifications
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EH&S management systems
• Available for administrative shift, occasional nights or weekends

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise and support for the management, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) programs.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local EH&S regulations, industry standards, and company requirements.
• Evaluate new and existing regulations and assess their potential impact on manufacturing and business operations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S programs, procedures, policies, and practices to support daily operations.
• Serve as an EH&S technical resource and liaison with internal stakeholders and, as required, external regulatory agencies.
• Support regulatory inspections, including preparation of documentation, responses to agency inquiries, monitoring activities, and follow-up actions.
• Design, develop, and implement EH&S training programs for employees and maintain appropriate training documentation.
• Evaluate new processes, equipment, operations, and capital projects to identify potential EH&S impacts and recommend appropriate controls and program improvements.
• Support engineering, construction, equipment installation, startup, shutdown, and other project-related activities from an EH&S perspective.
• Assess existing and future processes to identify opportunities to reduce EH&S risks, impacts, and long-term liabilities.
• Conduct or support EH&S audits, inspections, and assessments and ensure corrective actions are appropriately documented and implemented.
• Apply risk management principles to identify hazards and recommend practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment layouts, technical specifications, and project documentation to identify EH&S considerations.
• Support EH&S activities associated with Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR), Process Safety Management (PSM), and equipment/process modifications, as applicable.
• Support EH&S programs related to hazardous and compressed gases, pressure safety, machine safeguarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), construction safety, and fire/life safety systems.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, procedures, responses, and other EH&S documentation.
• Work independently on assigned programs and projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Support shutdowns, startups, inspections, and other business activities outside normal working hours when required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related technical field
• 2+ years of directly related experience
• Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, construction, engineering, or another regulated industrial environment.
• Knowledge of applicable EH&S regulations, industry standards, and risk management principles.
• Knowledge of EH&S practices applicable to manufacturing, engineering, construction, and capital projects.
• Experience supporting capital projects, equipment installations, process changes, or facility modifications is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of one or more of the following is preferred:
  • Process Safety Management (PSM)
  • Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR)
  • Management of Change (MOC)
  • Hazardous and Compressed Gases
  • Pressure Safety
  • Machine Safeguarding
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)

• Strong technical writing, documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other electronic EH&S management systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, Quality, Maintenance, and other cross-functional teams.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Ability to support shutdowns, startups, inspections, and project activities outside normal working hours, including occasional nights or weekends, as required.
• CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
• ASP (Associate Safety Professional)
• OSHA certifications or other relevant EH&S certifications
• Experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or highly regulated manufacturing facility
• Experience supporting capital projects and equipment installations
• Experience with EH&S management systems, audits, inspections, corrective actions, and regulatory compliance
• Experience developing and implementing EH&S programs and employee training
• Available for administrative shift
