Job summary

Quality Consulting Group, LLC is seeking a motivated Technician's Assistant to join our field research programs in Puerto Rico and the United States. You will support Phytogen Seed Company projects with a range of field and processing tasks, under supervision.

The role is seasonal and outdoors/indoors, with shifts across 1st and 2nd, and requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays. A bachelor’s degree in agronomy or natural sciences is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or in Natural Science (Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related fields).
• Standardize qualitative data using scales and categories.
• Leadership and organizational skills.
• Contingent worker must obtain driver's license when asked.
• Availability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tasks for the Phytogen Seed Company research program.
• Tasks described for the Field and Processing Worker.
• Assist Field Technician and perform tasks under supervision.
• Operate and drive field equipment or a company vehicle as required.
• Tasks may be indoor or outdoor and seasonal in nature.
• Handle sample organization during harvest and processing; seed packaging.
• General facility tasks including cleanup and organizing samples and supplies.
• Operate mobile field equipment (tractors) and stationary equipment (module builder).

Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of routine tasks associated with the Phytogen Seed Company research program.
• The tasks will include any or all of those described for the Field and Processing Worker.
• In addition, the Technician's Assistant will perform additional tasks as required by the supervising Field Technician.
• These tasks may include, under close supervision of the Field Supervisor: assisting with the repair and maintenance of field equipment, limited operation of field equipment, organization of samples during harvest and/or processing, and limited driving of a company vehicle.
• The type of task will be dependent on the stage of the annual research program and will be seasonal in nature.
• Tasks may be performed in an indoor and/or outdoor setting.
• Responsible for performing a wide range of tasks or a specific task depending on the stage of the seasonal research program.
• Tasks may include: Field research operations related to planting, thinning, weeding, pollinations and sample harvest.
• Sample processing operations including preparation of supplies, sorting, ginning, weighing, preparation for shipping and seed packaging.
• General facility operations including general clean-up, organization of samples and supplies, and other routine tasks as they arise.
• Perform additional tasks as requested by the supervising Field Technician.
• Operation of mobile field equipment, such as a tractor or cotton picker, and stationary field equipment, such as a module builder.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy or Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science (Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related fields)
• Standardize qualitative data (e.g., scales, categories)
• Leadership and Organizational Skills
• The contingent worker will be responsible of the process to expedite the needed driver license when asked. (This is a requirement for employment)
• 1st & 2nd shift.
• Availability to work all shifts, weekends and Holidays.
