Job summary

Denver Public Schools seeks a JROTC Military Instructor NCO to teach High School Military Science to a diverse student body. The role involves counseling students, enforcing conduct, and reinforcing positive behavior under district policies.

You will prepare lesson plans, administer tests, and report grades using district software while coordinating with parents and staff to resolve student issues. A strong military background is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• SAI must have a Bachelor's degree.
• AI must have an Associate’s degree.
• Be formally commissioned by a branch of the military.
• Army certification required before you may apply.
• Be authorized by the State Department of Education with a JROTC Endorsement.
• Previous formal military experience required.
• Live in Colorado with a permanent address.
• Able to meet physical demands with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
• Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rules of conduct and behavior for assigned students.
• Reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with policy; observe, evaluate and report student progress.
• Prepare lesson plans and materials according to curriculum guidelines.
• Prepare, administer, assign, and grade tests and assignments; report grades in the District software.
• Prepare attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.
• Communicate with parents/guardians, teachers, counselors and administrators to resolve problems.
