Sylvania is seeking a JRMS Science Olympiad Club Liaison to work collaboratively with volunteer coaches and students to organize practice sessions and manage the team budget. The position requires availability for two-hour sessions twice a week, from September to March, and participation in the CT State Tournament. The ideal candidate is a CT Certified Teacher who can provide valuable support for this educational program.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work with the lead volunteer coach to create opportunities for students.
• Collaborate with volunteer coaches and mentors to organize practice sessions.
• Collaborate with the lead volunteer coach to set expectations for students and problem-solve throughout the season.
• Guide students through their learning process.
• Assist the lead volunteer coach with communication to families and students.
• Manage the team budget.
• Submit grant applications for funding to the JRMS PTA and the Redding Education Foundation.
• Schedule team meetings and secure a space within the building for practice.
• Attend the State Tournament in March on Saturday.
• Work with the bookkeeper to manage the Science Olympiad/Student Activities account.
• Meet with the principal to share information as needed and provide end-of-year observations.

Time Requirement
