Job summary

Central Dauphin School District is seeking a motivated Junior Systems Administrator to join our IT team. In this full-time role you will help maintain servers, workstations, and network equipment, ensuring systems run smoothly for faculty, staff, and students.

You will assist with security, backups, and documentation, while learning from senior staff and contributing to classroom technology integration. A degree in IT and familiarity with Windows, macOS, Linux, and basic networking are preferred.

Qualifications

In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in supporting the district's technology infrastructure, ensuring that systems operate efficiently and effectively. You will assist in the management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software systems, while providing excellent support to faculty, staff, and students.


Responsibilities


  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, workstations, and network equipment.

  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise, ensuring minimal downtime.

  • Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software inquiries and resolving issues promptly.

  • Assist in the implementation and management of security protocols to protect district data and systems.

  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and user guides.

  • Collaborate with senior IT staff to implement new technologies and upgrades.

  • Participate in regular system backups and disaster recovery planning.

  • Help manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in accordance with district policies.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continually improve IT services.

  • Support the integration of technology into the classroom and assist with training staff and students on new tools and applications.


Requirements


  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and network protocols.

  • Familiarity with server and desktop hardware components.

  • Experience with troubleshooting hardware and software issues.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

  • Previous experience in an educational environment is a plus, but not required.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications) are a plus.
