Job summary

Yoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, seeks a Jr mechanical tester to test, troubleshoot, and inspect consumer electronics in an HW R&D lab environment. You will develop test cases, fixtures, and instrumentation for data collection and reporting, collaborating with engineers to deliver timely results.

Ideal candidates have experience with mechanical testing in an R&D setup, NX CAD software, and Google Workspace; ability to follow drawings and verbal instructions is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical testing & inspections on consumer electronics in an R&D lab.
• Experience using mechanical lab & machine shop equipment and tools (laser cutters, band saws, drill presses, Instrons, drop towers, high speed cams, DAQs, power supplies, DMMs).
• Experience setting up tests & instrumentation for data collection & reporting.
• Proficiency with NX CAD SW.
• Proficiency with Google Sheets, Docs, Drive, Meet.
• Ability to read schematics, CAD drawings, rough engineering drawings, or verbal instructions.
• Meticulous and discerning eye for optical measurements.
• Proactive team player with ability to work semi autonomously after training.
• Flexibility to perform tests in multiple environments (electrical, mechanical, thermal).

Mechanical Test Technician

Looking for a Jr mechanical tester to test, troubleshoot, & inspect consumer electronics in a HW R&D lab environment. This person should have an understanding of HW evaluation methodologies, including development of test cases/suites, fixture and mockup design, performance monitoring, and data analysis. They will collaborate with engineers & technicians to produce timely and quality testing results in the development of products.

Required:

• Experience with mechanical testing & inspections specifically on consumer electronics in an R&D lab environment.
• Experience using mechanical lab & machine shop equipment and tools: Laser cutters, band saws, drill presses, Instrons, drop towers, high speed cams, DAQs, power supplies, DMMs.
• Experience setting up tests & instrumentation for data collection & reporting.
• Proficiency with NX CAD SW.
• Proficiency with Google software suite - Sheets, Docs, Drive, Meet.
• Ability to work from schematics, CAD drawings, rough engineering drawings and/or verbal instruction.
• Meticulous and discerning eye for optical measurements.
• Proactive team player with good follow-through and the ability to accept critical feedback, working on tasks semi autonomously after some training & experience.
• Flexibility to perform tests in multiple testing environments that may involve electrical, mechanical, thermal, etc.

Pluses:

• Knowledge of LabVIEW programming and NI equipment.
• Strong theoretical background in the mechanics of solids and electrical circuits.
• Experience using digital and laser scanning microscopes and OMMs: shape analysis, surface roughness, flatness, profile, & tolerance measurements.
• Experience creating unit test plans.

Estimated Min Rate: $30.00 Estimated Max Rate: $40.00/hr+. Depends on experience
