Job description

Overview

This job involves testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in substations and field locations, requiring physical labor and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on protective relays, switching and regulating devices, substation equipment, control systems, and communication systems (SCADA).
• Participate in Bucket Truck Aerial and Ladder Line training, and perform storm emergency restoration work as needed.
• Work rotating shifts and respond to company emergencies, including system restoration.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 2 years of relevant technical experience or an Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent.
• Knowledge of basic AC/DC electrical power theory, circuit analysis, and mathematics including trigonometry and vector analysis.
• Experience with computer systems for testing, reporting, and analysis.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to pass the PST Electrical Technician placement exam.
• Ability to obtain a CDL license.

Licenses and Certifications

• Driver's License required.

Physical Demands

• Perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Work in adverse weather and conditions, wearing PPE and respirators if needed.
• Use equipment with weight ratings up to 375 lbs, and wear appropriate safety gear.

Additional Physical Demands

• Respond to emergencies and perform system restoration tasks.
• Pass all required placement exams.
