Job description

Background: Vectrona is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to support the Marine Corps Installations Command (MCICOM), G-9 Installation Analytics and Common Output Levels of Service (COLS) program. In this role, you will apply statistical analysis, data modeling, and advanced reporting techniques to inform strategic decisions across the Marine Corps installation portfolio. Your work will directly support performance assessments, cost modeling, and data visualization efforts related to the delivery and optimization of installation support services.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining cost and performance models to evaluate installation support functions.
  • Support the configuration and enhancement of dashboards and data visualizations using Microsoft Power Business Intelligence.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis using statistical programming tools to validate Common Output Levels of Service cost models and performance indicators.
  • Analyze data from various systems to identify trends, gaps, and correlations that support decision-making at the service component level.
  • Contribute to the documentation, testing, and validation of data inputs and outputs according to Department of Defense standards.
  • Participate in the production of deliverables including data extracts, white papers, program guidance, and executive-level briefings.

Preferred Education/Degree:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Computer Science.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in data analysis or modeling.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with at least one programming language such as Python or R.
  • Familiarity with data visualization platforms such as Microsoft Power Business Intelligence or Tableau.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense programs, particularly related to cost estimation or program performance.
  • Knowledge of Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution processes and Defense Readiness Reporting System data structures.
