Qualifications

Summary

As an entry-level Data Engineer, you will be the pilot driving AI tools for code generation, peer reviews, security scanning, quality assurance, and production support. Your primary responsibility is not to hand-write code all day, but to serve as the skilled human-in-the-cockpit ensuring AI-generated data solutions are correct, secure, and performant, and solve the most impactful business problems.

• You will solve business problems by building AI-generated data solutions:
• Collaborate closely with business partners to turn requirements into precise prompts and acceptance criteria.
• Prompt, review, debug, and validate AI-generated data pipelines, transformations, and code with minimal supervision.
• Expertly prompt and iterate with AI coding tools to produce high-quality solutions.
• Perform code reviews on AI-generated and human-written pull requests.
• Prompt and maintain automated tests and data quality checks across pipelines.
• Identify bugs, security issues, performance problems, data quality issues, or architectural mismatches in AI output and either fix them or re-prompt effectively.
• After you launch the solution, constantly circle back with the business to confirm the solution is solving the problem and rapidly iterate to improve its effectiveness.
• Work in a team setting with other engineers or tackle a problem independently.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 0-2 years of professional experience (internships and academic or personal projects count).
• Strong SQL skills and working knowledge of relational databases.
• Ability to quickly read, understand, and debug Python code.
• Working knowledge of Git and pull-request-based workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants and prompt-driven development (professional, internship, academic, or personal projects).
• Exposure to cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred).
• Exposure to building data pipelines or ETL/ELT processes (coursework and projects count).
• Familiarity with data modeling and data warehousing concepts.
• Exposure to AWS or another cloud platform.
