Job summary

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is seeking a Jr. Data Scientist to support our government customer in Arlington, Virginia. You will assist the Senior Data Scientist with data extraction, cleaning, and exploratory analysis to support threat forecasting and resource optimization.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a quantitative field and proficiency in Python or R, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI. Candidates must be a naturalized U.S.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field from an accredited university.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, SQL and data visualization tools.
  • Ability to work in DoW security environments with high security clearance familiarity.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Data Scientist in analytical support for leadership.
  • Support MOE framework by extracting and preprocessing large datasets.
  • Assist in implementing predictive models and ML algorithms.
  • Develop data pipelines and dashboards (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Prepare briefing data for ONDCP and Congressional committees.
  • Draft documentation for enterprise data standards and best practices.
  • Participate in interagency forums and document data-sharing requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is looking for a Jr. Data Scientist to provide support for our government customer in Arlington, Virginia.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the Senior Data Scientist in providing technical and analytical support to ODASW(CNGT) leadership.
  • Support the development of the MOE performance measurement framework by extracting, cleaning, and preprocessing large datasets from across the DoW CN community for further analysis.
  • Assist in implementing predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical scripts under the guidance of the Senior Data Scientist to support threat forecasting and resource optimization.
  • Support the architecture of data pipelines and assist in building, updating, and maintaining data visualizations and dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Assist in gathering data for briefings and reports destined for ONDCP and Congressional committees.
  • Conduct technical research and draft initial documentation to support the Senior Data Scientist in prototyping enterprise-wide data standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Provide analytical and technical support during interagency forums and working groups, assisting in the documentation of data-sharing requirements and technical meeting outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field from an accredited university. (Recent graduates with limited professional experience are preferred).

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Foundational knowledge of statistical, mathematical, and machine learning theories and their application in evaluating program data.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R), database query languages (e.g., SQL), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively on technical teams and support senior personnel on complex data projects.
  • Familiarity with, or the ability to quickly learn, DoW organizational structures and basic concepts related to national security or security cooperation programs.
  • Capability to operate within secure DoW data environments, demonstrating a working knowledge of basic data security and governance principles.
  • Be able to operate independently, proactively manage requirements, and require minimal government direction to achieve desired outcomes
  • Demonstrate prior experience and capabilities for the successful execution of tasks associated with specific duty positions/focus areas (e.g., legislative, budget, etc.).
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, and the ability to translate highly technical information into plain language for effective communication with DoW and other USG staff in the performance of all duties, tasks and services.
  • Must be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE
  • Must be a naturalized U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have an active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
