Job summary

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is seeking a System Administrator to support our government customer in Kihei, Maui. The role oversees enterprise DoD infrastructure with Windows Server and Linux (RHEL), focusing on RMF compliance and secure operation in both classified and unclassified networks.

You will manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, patching, hardening, vulnerability remediation, and collaboration with cybersecurity teams on ATO packages and disaster recovery.

Qualifications

  • Must have DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
  • Experience with DoD RMF, STIGs, and DISA cybersecurity policies.
  • Strong ability to patch, harden, and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Proven collaboration across cybersecurity teams and PMs.

Job description

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is looking for a System Administrator to support our government customer out of Kihei, Maui.

The successful candidate will oversee and manage enterprise-level infrastructure within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This role requires strong technical expertise in Windows Server administration, a comprehensive understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance, and experience ensuring systems adhere to DoDI 8500 standards. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing complex, hybrid environments and maintaining cybersecurity compliance across both classified and unclassified networks.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) environments on classified and unclassified DoD networks.
  • Manage core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP across multiple domains.
  • Implement, monitor, and maintain RMF security controls to ensure systems are compliant with DISA STIGs and DoD cybersecurity policies.
  • Apply and manage patches and updates across all systems in accordance with DoD patch management and configuration management policies.
  • Perform system hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation using tools such as ACAS, ARAD and SCAP.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for the automation of administrative tasks and system configuration.
  • Support virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V, Nutanix) and manage the virtual infrastructure lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to support Authority to Operate (ATO) packages, Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms), and audit readiness.
  • Maintain comprehensive system documentation, configuration baselines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in Change Control Boards (CCBs) and Configuration Management Boards (CMBs).
  • Assist with incident response, forensic analysis, and system recovery efforts.
  • Support enterprise backup and disaster recovery strategies using tools such as Avamar and BackupExec.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and DoD-approved tools to improve system performance and security.
  • Provide mentorship to junior administrators and IT support staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Physical tasks include lifting, pushing, or pulling 25-50 pounds (with a two-person assist).
  • Work positions include walking, standing, sitting for extended periods, crawling, kneeling, and working in cramped spaces, requiring repeated stooping and/or frequent stair climbing.
  • The environment includes government customer contact, extended workdays, and work in confined offices, laboratories, or field settings.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a relevant field with at least five (5) years of experience in System Administration, OR a High School diploma/GED with seven (7) years of relevant experience.
  • Compliance Certification: Must meet DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II requirements (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, etc.).
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Proven experience working in a team environment and participating in technical activities throughout project lifecycles.
  • Strong knowledge of IT systems and advanced IT infrastructure concepts.
  • Proficiency in operating personal computers, standard office equipment, and software.
  • Critical thinking and proven problem‑solving abilities.
  • Experience with DoD systems, infrastructure, and cybersecurity methods.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Advanced knowledge and certification in both Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • VMware or Nutanix certification is highly desired.
  • Experience with the administration of security tools such as SolarWinds, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE), Automated Remediation & Asset Discovery (ARAD)
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must possess an active Secret (Tier 3/NACLC) security clearance or higher to be considered and willing to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
COMPENSATION DETAILS:
  • $130,000.00-$160,000.00
  • The compensation range or hourly rate provided is a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, market conditions, and applicable laws.
