Job summary

BDS Engineering in Southern California seeks a Jr. Civil Engineer to join our growing team in San Diego. The role focuses on assisting with the design and delivery of civil projects including land development, infrastructure, and public works enhancements.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical judgment, experience with permitting, and knowledge of municipal stormwater requirements. PE/LS licenses are desirable but not required, with opportunities for advancement within a collaborative

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
• 4–6.5 years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience.
• Experience preparing SWPPP documentation for construction projects.
• Experience preparing Water Quality Technical Reports (WQTR) or similar stormwater compliance reports for CA municipalities.
• Familiarity with CA stormwater regulatory requirements including construction and post-construction compliance.
• Travel up to 5% of time.

Responsibilities

• Design and execution of civil engineering projects including grading, drainage, utilities, transportation improvements, and site development.
• Prepare engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and supporting calculations.
• Develop Water Quality Technical Reports (WQTR) to support project approvals and regulatory compliance.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support stormwater management strategies.
• Prepare stormwater documentation (SQMP) and post-construction BMP design documentation.
• Support project delivery with field reviews and construction observations.
