Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
  • 4–6.5 years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience.
  • Experience preparing SWPPP documentation for construction projects.
  • Experience preparing Water Quality Technical Reports (WQTR) or similar stormwater compliance reports for CA municipalities.
  • Familiarity with CA stormwater regulatory requirements including construction and post-construction compliance.
  • Travel up to 5% of time.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking a Jr. Civil Engineer to join our growing team.

The Jr. Civil Engineer is responsible for assisting with the design and delivery of civil engineering projects including land development, infrastructure, and public works improvements.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and experience with permitting, and construction phases of projects.

A California Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable but not required. A California Professional Land Surveyor (LS) license is desirable but not required.

What you'll do:
  • Design, and execution of civil engineering projects including grading, drainage, utilities, transportation improvements, and site development.
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and supporting calculations.
  • Develop Water Quality Technical Reports (WQTR) to support project approvals and demonstrate compliance with regional stormwater management requirements.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support stormwater management strategies, including detention, retention, infiltration, and treatment BMPs.
  • Prepare Stormwater Quality Management Plans (SQMP) and Post-Construction BMP design documentation for municipal permit compliance.
  • Prepare hydrology reports, drainage studies, and stormwater management plans required for project entitlement and construction.
  • Ensure engineering designs meet municipal stormwater standards, including those established by local jurisdictions and regional water quality control boards.
  • Provide technical support during construction related to stormwater BMP implementation, inspection, and compliance monitoring.
  • Assist in responding to regulatory agency comments related to water quality, drainage, and stormwater compliance.
  • Conduct site investigations, field reviews, and construction observations as necessary to support project delivery.
  • Develop engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documents in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Participate in client meetings, project presentations, and coordination meetings with architects, contractors, and consultants.
  • Assist in preparation of proposals, scopes of work, and engineering service agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including municipal codes, environmental requirements, and applicable engineering standards.

Annual Base Salary Range:

$98,000 - $130,000

Annual Base Salary Range: $98,000 - $130,000 depending on experience and qualifications of the selected candidate(s). The expected salary range for this position is displayed in accordance with the California Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The final agreed upon compensation is based on the success candidate's individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
