System One is seeking a Jr. Chemist in Nashua, NH, to perform testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. The role supports startups and process improvements across manufacturing with senior staff guidance.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding and comfort working in a lab setting.
• Experience with lab testing instruments (pH meters, DSC, IR, GC, titration, viscometers).
• Experience formulating, mixing, and compounding chemical products.
• Proficiency with electronic notebooks and R&D software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical, chemical, and performance testing on materials.

Job Title: Jr. Chemist

Location: Nashua, NH

Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: Flex Depending on Experience

Hours: Mon-Fri; 8am-5pm

Responsibilities

• Perform physical, chemical, and performance testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products
• Design and execute experiments using structured test plans and scientific methods
• Evaluate new raw materials for performance, cost, availability, and sustainability
• Support manufacturing with startup trials, process improvements, and troubleshooting activities
• Support senior technical staff during customer visits and field evaluations as needed
• Become familiar with regulations and customer requirements affecting formulated products under the guidance of senior technical staff
• Conduct competitive product evaluations and benchmarking studies
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks documenting objectives, observations, results, and conclusions
• Compound laboratory batches ranging from 1-liter samples to 5-gallon pilot-scale batches
• Scale formulations from laboratory development through pilot and production trials
• Maintain laboratory equipment, testing instruments, and chemical inventories

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related technical field
• 1-5 years of experience working in a lab setting, preferably in an industrial environment (Co-Ops/Internships count)
• Basic understanding, experience, and comfort working in a lab setting
• Experience working with 1 or more lab testing and analytical instruments (e.g., pH meters, DSC, Infrared Spectrometry, GC, Titration equipment, Viscometers)
• Experience formulating, mixing, and compounding chemical products
• Proficiency using electronic notebooks, formulation databases, and R&D software platforms
• Willingness to learn, trustworthy, and personable
• Ability to communicate effectively and possibly meet with clients at trade shows or on-site meetings
• Good mathematical skills
