Job summary

System One is seeking a Jr. Chemist in Nashua, NH, to perform testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. The role supports startups and process improvements across manufacturing with senior staff guidance.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in a related field and 1–5 years of lab experience, with proficiency in common analytical instruments and electronic notebooks. This is a direct-hire, on-site role offering growth and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 1-5 years of lab experience (Co-Ops/Internships count).
• Basic understanding and comfort working in a lab setting.
• Experience with lab testing instruments (pH meters, DSC, IR, GC, titration, viscometers).
• Experience formulating, mixing, and compounding chemical products.
• Proficiency with electronic notebooks and R&D software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical, chemical, and performance testing on materials.
• Design and execute experiments using structured test plans and methods.
• Evaluate new raw materials for performance, cost, availability, and sustainability.
• Support manufacturing with startup trials, process improvements, and troubleshooting.
• Assist senior staff during customer visits and field evaluations as needed.
• Learn regulations and customer requirements affecting formulated products.
• Conduct competitive product evaluations and benchmarking studies.
• Maintain laboratory notebooks with objectives, observations, results, and conclusions.
• Scale formulations from lab to pilot and production trials.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, testing instruments, and chemical inventories.
