The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.

Information Technology Services (ITS) is DSS’s technology services organization. Its mission is to support the daily, emergent, and long-term needs of both agencies. ITS creates and enhances the technology infrastructure and computer applications that support HRA and DHS and develops applications, including a variety of client eligibility and recertification systems, case management systems, housing systems, employment/work engagement services, revenue producing computer matches, claiming systems, and personnel systems.

Information Technology Services' Specifications and Inventory Control & Computer Distribution Services is recruiting for one (1) Procurement Analyst II, to function as Jr. Asset Management Analyst, who will:

  • Assist in the review and evaluation of user requests and technical specifications for hardware and software to ensure accuracy and compatibility with the Agency’s technology environment.
  • Support the development, planning, and coordination of maintaining an automated inventory system. Ensure that the system effectively utilizes complex database systems and integrations to meet the Agency’s asset management needs while complying with inventory control standards.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to users regarding the request system to ensure that requests are accurate and processed in a timely manner.
  • Help coordinate activities related to the receiving, distribution, installation, and relocation of inventory, ensuring timely and accurate updates to the Agency’s Asset Management database.
  • Collaborate with unit staff, including interns or consultants, providing direction and oversight for their asset management-related tasks.
  • Assist in designing, coding, testing, maintaining, and enhancing programs to generate analytical reports from the request system (ServiceNow) and inventory database for management review and daily operations of the Office of Specifications and Inventory Control & Computer Distribution Services.

9:00am-5:00pm

Minimum Qualifications
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; or
  • An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university, and 12 months of satisfactory, full-time professional experience in procurement of goods, services, construction or construction-related services, or professional, technical or administrative experience in contract negotiation/management; or
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above; or
  • A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. College education may be substituted for professional experience under "2" or "3" above at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university for 6 months of experience. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent; or

To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, either one year served at Assignment Level I or one additional year of the experience described in "2" above.

Preferred Skills
  • Proven experience in ServiceNow, IT Asset Management or a similar role. - Strong understanding of hardware and software configurations and requirements. - Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to provide effective technical support. - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
