North East School Division is seeking a full-time permanent Journeyperson Mechanic based in Tisdale, starting August 17, 2026. This position offers a competitive pay range of $38.63 - $46.00 per hour, with potential increases.

The successful candidate will be responsible for certifying the safety and repair of division-owned vehicles, conducting preventative maintenance, and performing troubleshooting and diagnostics. Applicants should hold a Journeyperson mechanic certification and have a Grade 12 diploma.

Permanent Journeyperson Mechanic – Transportation Services, Tisdale

The North East School Division is seeking a full‑time permanent (8 hours/day – 12 month) Journeyperson Mechanic in Tisdale to commence August 17, 2026. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position is open until July 3, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Certify the safety and repair of vehicles within the fleet.
• Carry out the preventative maintenance program for all division‑owned vehicles.
• Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on all fleet vehicles.
• Complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with parts inventory when required.
• Assist management with the continuous development and execution of the fleet maintenance plan.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma from a provincially recognized institution or equivalent.
• Journeyperson mechanic certification.
• Current SGI certification for school bus inspections or the ability to obtain certification.
• Understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements for safe operation of both a fleet and a repair facility.
• Proficiency in computer use, word processing, diagnostic applications, and other software used by the division.
• Valid class 5 Driver’s License.
• Experience in the maintenance of school buses considered an asset.
• Familiarity with fleet management software considered an asset.

Pay Range

$38.63 - $46.00 per hour (September 2026 pay range: $39.78 – $47.38). Increases are provided by Teamsters Local Union No. 395. A signing bonus of $2,500 and a retention bonus of $2,500 for two years are available to qualified journeypersons.
