Lead Marine

Full Time

$30.00 to $36.00/hr (Per Diem available for those who qualify)

Open to all shifts: 1st Shift (6:00am-2:30pm), 2nd Shift (3:00pm-11:30pm)

Job Overview

Lead Marine has immediate openings for Journeymen Structural Welders in the Shipyard Industry here in San Diego. This welding position involves working on Naval Bases & Shipyards during 1st or 2nd shifts, with overtime as needed. A DBID badge is a plus. Candidates must have at least 5 years of navy repair/marine welding experience. Pay depends on skills and capability.

Responsibilities
  • Perform multi-pass, all-position fillet and butt welds using SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW processes.
  • Operate oxygen/propane heating torches.
  • Work in physically demanding environments (shipboard, sub-assemblies, ladders, staging, etc.).
  • Follow OSHA regulations relevant to shipbuilding.
  • Use air carbon arc gouging equipment.
  • Properly use fillet and butt weld gauges.
  • Weld carbon steel and mild steel with ceramic tape backing.
Requirements
  • Compliance with OSHA & NAVSEA standards.
  • Minimum of 5 years of structural welding experience.
  • Own welding hood, leathers, and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, prints, and drawings.
  • Eligibility to obtain DBID/Naval Base Access.
Testing

All welders must pass the following tests:

  • SMAW process in 2G, 3G, & 4G positions.
  • FCAW process in 2G, 3G, & 4G positions.
  • GMAW process.
  • Air Carbon Arc Gouging proficiency.
