Job summary

Golden Valley Electric Association is seeking a Journeyman Wireman for the Healy Power Plant in Alaska. This full-time, 7-on/7-off role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical wiring and control systems to ensure reliable power generation.

You will work with transformers, relays, fiber optics, and instrumentation, with opportunities to support new construction and upgrades. Four+ years of experience and a Journeyman Wireman certification are required.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Wireman certification is required.
• Four or more years of experience and/or four years of apprenticeship training.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Alaska driver's license with an excellent driving record.
• Knowledge of electrical theory, circuits, and power distribution.
• Ability to obtain First Aid card within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, controls, instrumentation, and equipment at the Healy Power Plant.
• Test and repair electrical equipment, transformers, reclosers, protective relays, and controls; install and test fiber optic cable.
• Support new construction by installing conduit, wiring, electrical services, lighting, and power distribution equipment.

Join Golden Valley Electric Association as a full-time Journeyman Wireman at our Healy, Alaska, power plant! This is a hands-on opportunity to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, controls, instrumentation, and equipment that support reliable power generation.

In this role, you'll work with electrical and process control systems, transformers, protective relays, fiber optics, test equipment, and other critical plant systems. The position works a 7-day-on, 7-day-off schedule, 12 hours per day, with additional hours as required.

This bargaining-unit position offers competitive pay of $64.87 per hour, per IBEW Agreement, along with benefits including Retirement/401(k), Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Short- and Long-Term Disability, Paid Leave, Flexible Spending, and Wellness Benefits. YOUR ROLE AS THE JOURNEYMAN WIREMAN

As a Journeyman Wireman at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, controls, instrumentation, and equipment at the Healy Power Plant. You will work with a variety of electrical and control systems that are essential to safe and reliable plant operations.

In this role, you will test and repair electrical equipment, transformers, reclosers, protective relays, and controls; install and test fiber optic cable; and work with instrumentation and process control systems. You will also support new construction by installing conduit, wiring, electrical services, lighting, and power distribution equipment.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Candidates should have strong electrical knowledge and hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems. Journeyman Wireman certification is required, along with four or more years of experience and/or four years of apprenticeship training.

Knowledge and skills required for the position include:

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Formal electrical training; extensive work experience may count toward a portion of the educational requirements.


• Journeyman Wireman certification.


• Four or more years of experience and/or four years of apprenticeship training.
